Just a Catholic Calm Down Corner?
Nope! It’s so much more!
Want a full breakdown of the course + Catholic calm down corner kit + community? Take a tour of our program below!
Interested in Interior Kingdom, but want to see everything you'll be getting first? I'm that way too! Scroll down to see all of the gorgeous materials included in this program.
One of the very first things you'll notice that makes this program different? The materials aren't kiddish or bright and overstimulating - they're a serene reflection of the True, Good, and Beautiful that naturally invites a return to peace.
Please note, this is a fully digital program. No physical materials will be shipped to you. You will receive digital files you can print as many times as needed and customize for your own family.
Catholic Calming Corner Posters
Interior Kingdom focuses on using imagination to explore and regulate our emotions until we return to the Interior Kingdom of our hearts where King Jesus reigns.
Artwork helps in emotion identification, so the program is founded on these two images: color-coded landscapes for the four types of emotions and the Interior Kingdom of our hearts.
These posters can be hung on a wall or put in a binder for a travel version!
Phone a Friend
Call on King Jesus and the friends of the Royal Court to aid in exploration of different emotional landscapes!
I don't know about your kids but mine love to pretend to talk on their "phones" (everything ranging from remotes to a banana) - now they can talk to Jesus and the saints to help them return to inner calm.
Comes in two sizes and Christian (without Mary and the saints) options
Compass Cards
Learn coping skills, but make it a game! Compass Cards engage the senses for emotional regulation through play.
Did you know that emotional dysregulation actually triggers our "fight, flight, or freeze" response? So we need to calm that response before processing new information (like redirection).
Each Compass Card suggests a sensory activity - like smelling a candle or sucking on a mint - to calm that response. Spin the compass, land on a sense, and do what the card says to learn sensory coping skills!
Includes a simplified menu version and blank cards to make up your own sensory prompts!
Emotions Posters
Realistic (not cartoon-ish) depictions of 32 different emotions your kids might be experiencing. They can simply point to the one that best expresses how they feel, a great non-verbal way to start the conversation.
Flash card and blank versions also included to create bilingual options
And I don't know about you, but whenever I try to talk to my kids about their emotions, I typically resort to "sad" or "happy" and then completely blank out on other possible emotions.
That's why I love these emotion synonym cards that jog my mom brain. Now we can find the precise word to describe what my kids are feeling, transforming "sad" to "heartbroken." And that makes all the difference when teaching emotional literacy and regulation!
King Jesus and Royal Court Cards
The goal of Interior Kingdom is not just emotional regulation - it's returning to the kingdom of God that dwells in us. Visualizing key "kingdom figures" is important - the more we encounter them, the more natural it is to call on them for assistance!
That's why one of my favorite aspects of the Interior Kingdom program is the King Jesus and Royal Court cards. There are more than 800 cards featuring
- God the Father
- King Jesus
- Holy Spirit
- Blessed Mother
- Saints
- Bible quotes
To further make the connection, the saint and Bible quote cards are color-coded to match the landscapes - simply pick a card that matches the emotional landscape for additional help in processing the emotion!
All cards come in script or print font choices.
Catholic Emotional Regulation Posters
For visual learners, these additional prints are a great reinforcement and reminder of the Interior Kingdom concepts. They can be hung up as part of a wall poster display in a Kingdom Corner, or placed in a 'Binder Book' for easy reference.
The Interior Kingdom Map
Finally, we put this all together with the Interior Kingdom map, making exploring and regulating our emotions a fun quest to find the path back to King Jesus!
We begin by identifying the emotional landscape and then name the emotion. If needed, we call on our Royal Court or reflect on faith-based quotes for help. Then we pick a sensory activity to regulate, have a conversation about what happened, and find ourselves back at the Interior Kingdom!
It's then that we can learn from the experience with a heart repair, a lesson, or an opportunity for a redo.
You get all of that PLUS
The full Interior Kingdom course for parents and caregivers (broken into 5-20 minute sections - see full outline here)
The ability to ask questions in our private Interior Kingdom community with other families going through the program
Additional materials to customize the program for teens or integrate into your GenMindful resources
28-page reflection guide for adults (because the Emotions 101 section will address ALLLLL of your triggers too)
Six cheat sheets so you'll actually implement it (instead of yet another hack you can't remember in the moment)
What makes Interior Kingdom particularly unique is that it's not "just" a course or "just" calm down corner materials - it's both! I want emotional regulation to become part of your family's sainthood story, and to do that, it needs to be integrated into your daily lives.
The program is meant to be integrated over a period of time - I walk you through sample schedules for a 5-week and 8-week implementation, but you can take as much or as little time as your family needs.
